Below is a beautifully written letter (written by a modern day Confederate who has done much for our Cause) setting straight one of these schmucks. Below his letter is the link to the original article. Thanks, Mr. King for letting me repost your excellent letter! More people need to be educated and you do a great job of educating. God bless you, sir!

Mr. Schapiro,

Others may have already pointed out to you that the "Confederate Battle
Flag" is not the "Stars and Bars". This misidentification is frequent
among journalists not familiar with Confederate symbols, history and
heritage.

The Stars and Bars was the 1st National flag of the Confederate States
of America. It consists of 3 bars or large stripes---red, white, and red
with 7 stars in a circle on the left side (later 11 or 13 stars).

The Confederate Battle flag AKA "Southern Cross" or "St. Andrew Cross"
is the familiar X often incorrectly called "Stars and Bars".

Hollywood, The liberal socialist news media, and the KKK has misused,
abused, and misrepresented the Confederate Battle Flag and perverted
it's meaning in the minds of many Americans to represent racism,
bigotry, and slavery.

The true principles and values the Confederate Flag represents
are--Limited Constitutional Federal Government, States Rights,
Resistance to Tyranny, and Christian Values and Principles.

Why is the Confederate Flag under Attack? Read my article posted below
and learn the truth.

America was founded as a Constitutional Federal Republic composed of a
Limited Federal Government and Sovereign States. Nations must evolve to
survive. However the problem is they always evolve too much. All change
is not for the better. World history records the death of every former
empire. Nations evolve to the point that they stray from the foundations
that they were built upon and decline until they cease to exist. America
has evolved too far and is following the same path to destruction that
the Roman empire followed 2000 years ago. The only anomaly is the
South's fight during 1861-1865 to retain Constitutional Government. The
Confederate States of America fell battling under the banner of "States
Rights". Confederate principles are 1. Limited Constitutional Federal
Government 2. States Rights 3. Christian values. 4. Resistance to
tyranny. Excess immigration (excess numbers of slaves), corrupt
government, and destruction of family values destroyed the Roman Empire
and immigration (illegal and excess legal), corrupt government, and
destruction of family values are destroying the American Empire.
Wal-Mart's recent decision to join and support homosexuals as part of
their diversity program underscores the decline of family values. They
refuse to adopt Confederate principles and values as part of that
diversity program.

Southern Senators and Congressmen voted against the destructive bills
that were voted into law by the other sections of the country. Georgia
Senator Richard B. Russell and Senator Strom Thurmond of South Carolina
were two of the most stalwart. Southern "common sense" has almost ceased
to exist in American Government. The Northern Socialists who own
Hollywood and the mass media actually control America. Through movies
and TV the American public are unknowingly brainwashed. They believe
they are watching harmless fictional entertainment. Research proves that
young people develop and form values, opinions, and beliefs while
watching such "harmless entertainment". They are being indoctrinated for
the coming "New World Order"--A Socialist Godless "One World Government"
under the United Nations. Hitler and Goebbels understood the power of
propaganda and the Northern Socialists that control America do also.
They want Americans to eat Big Macs, watch TV programs like Seinfeld and
vote in sham elections and be proud to be Americans. We should be proud
to be Americans but we need to realize what is happening behind the veil
of propaganda.

When the South lost the war in 1865 Confederate General Robert E. Lee
told his men to go home and be good Americans. Southerners did this and
have fought America's wars in larger numbers than any other section of
the country. Yet we are attacked by the media and made the nations
whipping boy and the butt of jokes as "gratitude" for our contributions.
Why? Because the South is the most Christian Conservative part of the
nation. These liberal socialists have two goals for America 1.Destroy
Christianity and replace it with Secular Humanism and 2. replace what is
left of Democracy with total Socialism. Once they destroy the Christian
conservative South the rest of America will fall in line like sheep
behind Secular humanism and Socialism. That is the real reason they want
to destroy Confederate principles and values. The infamous Communist
Karl Marx said "a people separated from their heritage are easily
persuaded". So under the "Moral High Ground" guise of black civil rights
they have carried forth their propaganda campaign. They are using black
activists to unknowingly do their "dirty work" for them. They also use
what the infamous Communist Vladimir Lenin called "useful idiots" to
help accomplish their agenda. Those who are helping destroy Confederate
heritage fit in this group-- "white liberals with a guilt complex".
Liberalism is all about "feelings" as opposed to "fact". These "useful
idiots" also include Southern politicians who help remove Confederate
flags which are a symbol of the principles and values America was
founded upon.

The politically incorrect 752 page book "The South Under Siege
1830-2000" explains in detail what has happened and is currently
happening in America. It is available from Amazon.com or from myself
jkingantiquearms@bellsouth.net

In the United States of America, there are only two directions left.
Either we will reclaim our heritage, or we will surrender our
Constitution and Sovereignty to the chains of slavery. The most
compelling question that the people of the United States have always
grappled with is how to build a government strong enough to preserve
order and yet leave society free enough to prevent tyranny.

James W. Why should we get rid of the Pledge of Allegiance?

1. None of the Founding Fathers wrote the Pledge of Allegiance. The original Pledge of Allegiance was written in the early 1890's by a Yankee socialist defrocked preacher for the "benefit" of Southern school children.

2. We shouldn't pledge allegiance to a rectangular piece of fabric. We should pledge allegiance to God and merely salute the flag of a constitutional republic (assuming we had the flag of a constitutional republic to salute).

3. The United States, unfortunately, is not a true "republic" any longer. We lost that when the Union forced the Southern States to remain part of that which became the U.S. empire.

4. Union is good in a constitutional republic, but the United States should not be "indivisible" at the point of a bayonet.

5. While ideal, "with liberty and justice for all" is fiction in the United States today.

Yes, it's still "the best country in the world," but that's like saying that this snake is less poisonous than that snake. I don't like getting bitten by any of them. When we've lost the little that remains of true America, we won't be "the best country in the world" any longer; we'll be just another dictatorship. "Under God" is the only part from the Pledge of Allegiance that we should keep. Though most Americans would disagree with me about getting rid of the Pledge of Allegiance, that's my opinion. I wonder how the Founding Fathers would feel about it, considering that they preferred liberty over tyranny.

I am their Flag

In 1861, when they perceived their rights to be threatened, when those who would alter the nature of the government of their fathers were placed in charge, when threatened with change they could not accept, the mighty men of valor began to gather. A band of brothers, native to the Southern soil, they pledged themselves to a cause: the cause of defending family, fireside, and faith. Between the desolation of war and their homes they interposed their bodies and they chose me for their symbol.

I Am Their Flag.

Their mothers, wives, and sweethearts took scissors and thimbles, needles and thread, and from silk or cotton or calico whatever was the best they had even from the fabric of their wedding dresses, they cut my pieces and stitched my seams.

I Am Their Flag.

On courthouse lawns, in picnic groves, at train stations across the South the men mustered and the women placed me in their hands. "Fight hard, win if possible, come back if you can; but, above all, maintain your honor. Here is your symbol," they said.

I Am Their Flag.

They flocked to the training grounds and the drill fields. They felt the wrenching sadness of leaving home. They endured sickness, loneliness, boredom, bad food, and poor quarters. They looked to me for inspiration.

I Am Their Flag.

I was at Sumter when they began in jubilation. I was at Big Bethel when the infantry fired its first volley. I smelled the gun smoke along Bull Run in Virginia and at Belmont along the Mississippi. I was in the debacle at Fort Donelson; I led Jackson up the Valley. For Seven Days I flapped in the turgid air of the James River bottoms as McClellan ran from before Richmond. Sidney Johnston died for me at Shiloh as would thousands of others whose graves are marked "Sine Nomine," - without a name - unknown.

I Am Their Flag.

With ammunition gone they defended me along the railroad bed at Manassas by throwing rocks. I saw the fields run red with blood at Sharpsburg. Brave men carried me across Doctor's Creek at Perryville. I saw the blue bodies cover Marye's Heights at Fredericksburg and the Gray ones fall like leaves in the Round Forest at Stones River.

I Am Their Flag.

I was a shroud for the body of Stonewall after Chancellorsville. Men ate rats and mule meat to keep me flying over Vicksburg. I tramped across the wheat field with Kemper and Armistead and Garnett at Gettysburg. I know the thrill of victory, the misery of defeat, the bloody cost of both.

I Am Their Flag.

When Longstreet broke the line at Chickamauga, I was in the lead. I was the last off Lookout Mountain. Men died to rescue me at Missionary Ridge. I was singed by the wildfire that burned to death the wounded in the Wilderness. I was shot to tatters in the Bloody Angle at Spotsylvania. I was in it all from Dalton to Peachtree Creek, and no worse place did I ever see than Kennesaw and New Hope Church. They planted me over the trenches at Petersburg and there I stayed for many long months.

I Am Their Flag.

I was rolled in blood at Franklin; I was stiff with ice at Nashville. Many good men bade me farewell at Sayler's Creek. When the end came at Appomattox, when the last Johnny Reb left Durham Station, many of them carried fragments of my fabric hidden on their bodies.

I Am Their Flag.

In the hard years of so-called "Reconstruction," in the difficulty and despair of years that slowly passed, the veterans, their wives and sons and daughters, they loved me. They kept alive the tales of valor and the legends of bravery. They passed them on to the grandchildren and they to their children, and so they were passed to you.

I Am Their Flag.

I have shrouded the bodies of heroes, I have been laved with the blood of martyrs, I am enshrined in the hearts of millions, living and dead. Salute me with affection and reverence. Keep undying devotion in your hearts. I am history. I am heritage, not hate. I am the inspiration of valor from the past. Look Away, Dixie Land!

I Am Their Flag.

Restore the Republic

Legacy

Legacy-by Nicole Nordeman

I don't mind if you've got something nice to say about me
And I enjoy an accolade like the rest
You could take my picture and hang it in a gallery
Of all who's who and so-n-so's that used to be the best
At such'n'such ... it wouldn't matter much

I won't lie, it feels alright to see your name in lights
We all need an 'Atta boy' or 'Atta girl'
But in the end I'd like to hang my hat on more besides
The temporary trappings of this world

I want to leave a legacy
How will they remember me?
Did I choose to love? If it can't be fried in bacon grease, it ain't worth cooking, let alone eating.

If you do run your car into a ditch, don't panic. Four men in the cab of a four-wheel-drive with a 12-pack of beer and a tow chain will be along shortly. Don't try to help them. Just stay out of their way: This is what they live for.

Don't be surprised to find movie rentals and fishing bait in the same store.

Remember: "Y'all" is singular.

"All y'all" is plural. "All y'all's" is plural possessive.

There is nothing sillier than a northerner imitating a Southern accent, unless it is a Southerner imitating a New Jersey accent.

People walk slower here.

Don't be worried that you don't understand anyone. They don't understand you either.

The first Southern expression to creep into a transplanted Northerner's vocabulary is the adjective "Big ol'", as in "big ol' truck" or "big ol' boy". Eighty-five percent begin their new southern influenced dialect with this expression. One hundred percent are in denial about it.

The proper pronunciation you learned in school is no longer proper.

"He needed killin'" is a valid defense here.

If attending a funeral in the South: remember, we stay until the last shovel of dirt is thrown on and the tent is torn down.

Northerners can be identified by the spit on the inside of their car's windshield that comes from yelling at other drivers.

The winter wardrobe you always brought out in September can wait until November.

If there is the prediction of the slightest chance of even the tiniest accumulation of snow, your presence is required at the local grocery store. It does not matter if you need anything from the store, it is just something you're supposed to do.

As you are cursing the person driving 15 mph in a 55 mph zone, directly in the middle of the road, remember, many folks learned to drive on a model of vehicle known as John Deere, and this is the proper speed and lane position for the vehicle.

You can ask a Southerner for directions, but unless you already know the positions of key hills, trees and rocks, you're better off trying to find it yourself.

That farm boy you see at the gas station did MORE work before breakfast than you do all week at the gym.

It's called a "gravel road." No matter how slow you drive, you're going to get dust on your Navigator. Drive it or get out of the way.

The red dirt -- it's called clay. Red clay. If you like the color, don't wash your car for a couple weeks -- it'll be permanent.

We all started hunting and fishing when we were seven years old. Yeah, we saw Bambi. We got over it.

Go ahead and bring your $600 Orvis Fly Rod. Don't cry to us if a flathead breaks it off at the handle. We have a name for those little 13-inch trout you fish for -- bait.

Pull your pants up. You look like an idiot.

If that cell phone rings while a bunch of mallards (ducks) are making their final approach, we will shoot it (the phone). You might want to ensure it's not up to your ear at the time.

No, there's no "Vegetarian Special" on the menu. Order steak. Order it rare. Or, you can order the Chef's Salad and pick off the two pounds of ham and turkey.

Tea - yeah, we have tea. It comes in a glass over ice and is really, really sweet. You want it hot -- sit it in the sun. You want it unsweetened -- add a LOT of water.

So, you have a sixty thousand dollar car. We're real impressed. We have a quarter of a million-dollar combine (it's farm equipment) that we only use two weeks a year.

Let's get this straight. We have one stoplight in town. We stop when it's red. We may even stop when it's yellow.

We eat dinner together with our families. We pray before we eat (yeah, even breakfast). We go to church on Wednesdays and Sundays and we go to high school football games on Friday nights. We still address our seniors with "yes, sir" and "yes, ma'am," and we sometimes still take Sunday drives around town to see friends and neighbors.

We don't do "hurry up" well.

Greens - yeah, we have greens, but you don't putt on them. You boil them with salty fatback, bacon or a ham hock.

Yeah, we eat catfish, bass, bream (pronounced brim) and carp. You really want sushi and caviar? It's available at the bait shop.

They are pigs. That's what they smell like (money). Get it -- pig farms -- income -- money? Get over it. Don't like the smell? Interstate 75 goes two ways. Interstate 20 goes the other two. Pick one.

Grits are corn. You put butter, salt, and maybe even some pepper on them. If you want to put milk and sugar on them, then you want Cream of Wheat --go to Kansas. That would be I-20 West.

The "Opener" refers to the first day of deer season or dove season. Both are holidays. You can get pancakes, cane syrup, and sausage before daylight at the church on either day.

So every person in every pickup waves? Yeah, it's called being friendly. Understand the concept?

Yeah, we have golf courses. Don't hit in the water hazards. It spooks the fish and bothers the gators...and if you hit it in the rough, we have these things called diamondbacks, and they're not baseball players.

That Highway Patrol Officer that just pulled you over for driving like an idiot...his name is "Sir," no matter how young he is.

We have lots of pine trees. They have sap. It drips from them. You park your Navigator under them, and they'll leave a logo on your hood.

No, we don't care how you do things in California or up North. Ron Paul has lead almost every poll the media has sponsered and yet they still refuse to give him much credit.

I say every freedom loving American should
consider voting for Ron Paul!

Deport illegals back to their home country and do away with the
nonsense "law" that gives citizenship to children born in America
to illegals.

Bring the troops home and start minding our own business
(and close down all u.S. military bases on foreign soil).

Protect our own borders.

Get rid of all the unconstitutional departments like the
Dept. of Education, Homeland Security, IRS, etc.

Give back to the sovereign States the powers that are
rightfully theirs.

Put the federal gov't back under the contol of the people,
rather than the federal gov't controlling the people.

Folks, this is just the start of an entire wind of reformation that America needs to undergo. I haven't listened to it in about a year, but the content of the song is heavy in my heart. I may elaborate more on this at a later time, but for now think about those friends and family that you love deeply and thank God for them, for both the joys and the sorrows of friendship are a gift from Him.

Circle of Friends-Point of news

I'm ashamed of my State. Well, not the entire State. But I am ashamed of those voted in office by the People, to be of service to the People, which seem to be doing a bad job of serving.

The NC Senate passed an "official apology" for slavery. In a Bill passed by the Senate, it afforded that the system of slavery that was LEGAL (an institution that grew thanks to the YANKEE slave trade, but that's another blog in itself) 150 years ago is the cause of the many dysfunctions of many Black communitites TODAY.

Well, I have a different theory. There are 2 major causes for the dysfunction of not only a large portion of the Black community, but for American society in general. The first is just down-right sin. That is the bottom line-a lack of godliness and a personal pursuit of Christ's holiness and righteousness. Because we've been inundated by the PC'ers, New Agers, Humanists, Evolutionists, Communists, Socialists, and other ungodly "ists", we have become a society that anything goes, if it feels good-do it!, super sexualized, immoral, immodest bunch of people whose critical thinking and common sense skills have been flushed down the toilet.

The second reason for the dysfunction of society is the government itself. When Abraham Lincoln destroyed America by making shredded wheat out of the Constitution, he set into motion the beast of federal tyranny that has grown larger than life and runs rampant amongst us today. When the federal government took away the Peoples' right to govern themselves, and exchanged it for the ability for IT to govern us, we started our downward spiral, slippery slope we are now on.

At the beginning of all of this, it left much of the Church in apathy. The job of the Church is social welfare; feeding the hungry, encouraging the poor in spirit, building and running hospitals, being a light to a dark world where those wandering around in the darkness would see the Light of Christ and come. But the federal government didn't say to the Church, "We'll help you do these things", it said "We'll do these things instead of you." And the Church instead of saying to the government, "No, you do your job and we'll do ours" said "OK, you can do whatever you want." That has left the Church in America floundering, and therefore is the basis for my first reason above.

Now, I realize there were some few courageous souls who have fought against this tyranny from the start. Today there are fewer still. And there dont seem to be any in the NC Senate.

Patrick Henry

Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect everyone who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force. Whenever you give up that force, you are inevitably ruined.

The great object is, that every man be armed ... Every one who is able may have a gun.

Are we at last brought to such humiliating and debasing degradation, that we cannot be trusted with arms for our defense? Where is the difference between having our arms in possession and under our direction, and having them under the management of Congress? If our defense be the real object of having those arms, in whose hands can they be trusted with more propriety, or equal safety to us, as in our own hands?

Adversity toughens manhood, and the characteristic of the good and great man is not that he has been exempted from the evils of life, but that he has surmounted them.

The first thing I have at heart is American liberty, the second thing is American union.
Power is the great evil with which we are contending. We have divided power between three branches of government and erected checks and balances to prevent abuse of power. However, where is the check on the power of the judiciary? If we fail to check the power of the judiciary, I predict that we will eventually live under judicial tyranny.

The Constitution is not an instrument for government to restrain the people, it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government, lest it come to dominate our lives and interests.
If this be treason, make the most of it!

--Patrick Henry

Freedom to Fascism the film

HERE & HERE

Since seeing this film and knowing more and more everyday about the lies told to us by the federal government, I am beginning to wonder just how far I as an individual would be willing to go for my beliefs.

I am going to meet with my pastor this week to get some biblical counseling regarding civil disobedience and what the Bible says is and is not acceptable for a Christian. Honestly, I was so angry when I watched this and began seriously thinking about why would I still continue to file yearly tax returns when there is no law saying it is mandantory. Would I be willing to risk everything to stand up against this kind of tyranny.

Bush has already passed an executive order that he can and will suspend habeas corpus under certain circumstances regarding security, but will it end there? No, I'm sure he would find any number of reasons to do so as well if he felt the power of the federal gov't was being challenged.

So, like many others have done, if I refuse to file a tax return because there is not a specific law stating that American citizens are required to do so, then I would run the risk of being thrown into federal prison for life and having all my possessions, meager as they are, taken away, and never being allowed to a rebuttal and defense of myself.

So, what I am asking myself after all this rambling, could I? Would I? Should I? Can I defy tryanny knowing that they have bigger guns than I do and would love to torture, ruin, or kill anyone who dared to reproach them, even though they are the ones acting illegally and I would be doing nothing against the law. How dare the government put it's citizens in this type of prediciment!

I knew from my study of American history that there have been corrupt administrations and injustices throughout the life of America. I have been a lot of things; dismayed, saddened, disgusted, mad. But after watching this, I was enraged, livid, and felt such a deep hatred of how evil this government has become!

To make matters even worse than the lying and stealing they've done to us for decades, the feds are working on implementing a national ID card along with radio chip inplanted in us. So we can accept this and our every movement be monitored. And when we do something to displease them they can turn our chip off and not be able to go anywhere, buy, sell, or trade and virtually become non citizens. Or we can refuse this ID and chip outright and by doing this become non citizens. Either way we become a people without a country!

In a way like no other, these past few days I have been put in the shoes of our Colonial people and our Confederate people. In a way like no other, I have a much deeper regard for exactly what they fought against, and what they fought for. I think now I have an even better understanding of their fears, of their goals and dreams, their victories and their defeats.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
"To compel a man to furnish funds for the propagation of ideas he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical."

"Resistance to tyrants is obedience to God."

"An elective despotism was not the government we fought for."

"The two enemies of the people are criminals and government, so let us tie the second down with the chains of the Constitution so the second will not become the legalized version of the first."

"Ignorance and despotism seem made for each other."

"A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor and bread it has earned - this is the sum of good government. "

"All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent."

"Banking establishments are more dangerous than standing armies. "

"Commerce with all nations, alliance with none, should be our motto."

"Conquest is not in our principles. It is inconsistent with our government. "

" believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. Already they have raised up a monied aristocracy that has set the government at defiance. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people to whom it properly belongs. "

" hope we shall crush in its birth the aristocracy of our monied corporations which dare already to challenge our government to a trial by strength, and bid defiance to the laws of our country."

"I sincerely believe that banking establishments are more dangerous than standing armies, and that the principle of spending money to be paid by posterity, under the name of funding, is but swindling futurity on a large scale."

"I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that His justice cannot sleep forever. "

"My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government. "

"Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual."

"The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions that I wish it to be always kept alive."

"When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty."

"Whenever the people are well-informed, they can be trusted with their own government."

All quotes by Thomas Jefferson. He must have been a prophet. He warned us. And some didn't listen. Now we are all paying the price. We are no longer a free people. It's up to us to fight and regain our freedom. It's certain that Washington DC will not easily just hand it over.
<img width='1' height='1' throne

Last night something happened. Something happened to my mind, to my soul, to my entire being. On a smaller scale, I have personally known and experienced this certain phenomenon before. I think it can be said that these happenings are in many ways the same and at the same time, different.

What happened? Heaven happened!

The crowded amphitheater, filled with worshippers from every tribe, tongue, and nation became an extension of the Throne Room. Became the altar at the Mercy Seat. For a lingering moment in time every burden, every care, every hurt didn't exist. There was a conjoining of the Church triumphant and the Church militant, the Bride of Christ reaching out to Him, dancing for Him, lavishing Him with praise.

Words cannot adequately express the full scale of what happened. It was very real and very supernatural. It was so much more than a praise and worship concert. It was a receiving of the love of Jesus being poured out over His loved ones. It was a place where the enemy dared not enter. It was a biology lesson, astronomy lesson, and sermon all rolled up together. It was grace and mercy blanketing sinners who's likeness to Him is becoming more clear as He grows our faith. It was humbling, making me smaller and Him bigger. It was God revealing His plan to make all things new. It was all this and more. Above all, it was a momentary glimpse of Eternity, when all the angels and the saints will forevermore praise the Lamb in one accord.

I left the amphitheater praising Him; I went to bed praising Him; I woke up praising Him. I'm even sure that during my slumber I was praising Him. Twenty four hours later, I am still praising Him!

check these out...

Take a look at some of America's worst presidents...would you be suprised to see who made the list?
HERE, & HERE

The celebration of our Christian beginnings in Jamestown:
HERE

This is one of the most disgusting things I've seen! And while these two things are separate in function and in essence, they are definite bedfellows and where one is, you will most certainly find the other. I'm sure you've heard by now the 'insensitive' remarks made by Ann Coulter at a large conservative rally. I'm also pretty sure you heard the news that ol' Al Sharpton got the other day. And I'm even guessing that you may have heard the latest from the great state of Virginia. Oh, and let's not forget the buzz word 'reparations.'

In case you're still wondering, the two companions I speak of are "political correctness" and "offense."

Now, I happen to be a big fan of Lewis Grizzard. And for those few out there who have ever cared to read my posts in the past, you probably would remember this.

I was having a Grizzard moment tonight. I felt the desire to pull off my bookshelf one of my personal favourites, "Southern by the Grace of God." Lo and behold, to what did appear to my eyes! I had quite forgotten all about this piece he wrote called "I wish I was...Politically Correct in Dixie"; I figured I'd just might as well share it with you. So, y'all sit back and read this. Oh, and if you dont find this politically correct enough and you take offense, well, I just dont know what to tell you. But I do know that 'sorry' ain't it!

{I certainly agree with all those who have protested the playing of "Dixie" at Southern football games.

Although slavery isn't mentioned in the song, it still makes people think of the Old South, where every white person owned African-American slaves.

"Dixie" is definitely a politically incorrect piece of music. Even the word is offensive to some, and I apologize to those who are offended by my use of it.

But I'm proud to say my alma mater, the University of Georgia, years ago rid itself of any connection with the song or the word you-know-what (see, I didn't use the word that time, as I despise offending people).

The Georgia band used to play the song at football games. But not anymore. The only place they still play the song is at the University of Mississippi. They also wave Confederate flags and they allow prayer before a football game.

I'm not certain how long it will be before members of the Speech Police move in and shut down such rephrehensible behavior, but it could be any day now.

Georgia not only stopped playing the song, it even changed the name of the band, formerly known as the Dixie Redcoat Band. It became simply the Redcoat Band.

That prompted my stepbrother, Ludlow Porch, the famous radio talk show personality, to fire off a letter to the editor suggesting the following: "I applaud the dropping of 'Dixie' from the name of the University of Georgia band, but let us not stop there.

How can we allow the word 'red' which stands for communism? And the word 'redcoat' itself is an affront to the memory of all those Americans who fought against the redcoats of England in the Revolutionary War.

And 'band.' Poncho Villa had a 'band' of desperadoes and we had to send brave young soldiers into Mexico after him. So 'band' should go, too, and that just leaves 'The', which is a dumb name for a large group of musicians, so I guess they're just out of a name altogether.

I believe if we really try we can wipe away all symbols of the Old South forever. There's a company in Savannah that makes Dixie Crystal Sugar. Sorry, it's just Crystal Sugar from now on, and don't give me any grief about it.

And there's even a Dixie highway in the South. It should be referred to from now on only as Highway. As in, 'Well, you take Highway, then go down three blocks and...' There are even people named Dixie, believe it or not. They will have to get new first names, or go by their middle names. And if anybody named Dixie lives on Dixie Highway, the Speech Police will likely demand they be shot.

And if the song and word 'Dixie' are symbolic of the Old South, I guess we ought to stop using 'Old South' as well. Instead of saying 'Old South' perhaps we can refer to it as 'Back Then,' and we can roll our eyes when we use it so everybody will know we aren't talking about when dinosaurs roamed the Earth, but when slaveholders used to go around singing songs like 'Dixie' and 'Eating Goober Peas.'

But wait. 'Eating Goober Peas' is a song from Back Then, too, so don't anybody dare play that at a football game.

Songs about killing innocent people, incidentally, are just fine.}

No Offense, but I'm taking Offense

OK, it's time. I got into another Lewis Grizzard moment tonight. It's been a few months since I sat down and read any of his work. So, I took one of my favourites, "Southern By the Grace of God" off the bookshelf and leafed through.

Everybody it seems is offended by something or another these days. I'm sure I've even offended some friends lately. I dont mean to, but somehow, I do.

Well, in light of this, I came across this piece by Mr. Grizzard, "No offense, but I'm taking offense." So, I shall share it with y'all. Oh, and please, dont be offended!

{I'm offended.

I never thought I would say that because I'm an easy-going type of guy who figures it's a lot less stressful not to let anybody get to me.

But these are the 90's, and getting offended is "in", like drinking bottled water, refusing to eat red meat, and cursing smokers.

Hardly a day passes that somebody doesn't make the news by getting offended.

Sister Souljah, the rap person, rapped about killing while people, and then she became offended because Bill Clinton said she was a racist for doing such a thing.

Jessie Jackson, who was born offended, also got offended by Mr. Clinton's remarks, so it was a 2-on-1 fastbreak, two offendees on one offender. Hardly sounds fair, but that's baseball these days.

And that brings up Native Americans becoming offended by Atlanta Braves fans' tomahawk chop and criminals becoming offended by the name Texas Rangers, since Texas Rangers are law enforcement people who nab a lot of criminals and send them to jail.

So why should I be left off the bandwagon of offendees? It's a free country, isn't it? Here's why I'm offended.

There was an article on the front page of the Atlanta newspaper the other day concerning suburban Clayton County promoting itself as a nice place to live in order to persuade more Atlanta area people to move there.

The second paragraph began: "Feeling that the county has been treated for years as metro Atlanta's redneck stepchild..."

That offended me.

In the first place, I know the orgin of the term "redneck" and several members of my family fell into that catagory.

"Redneck" got its start when ruralites came to town on Saturdays to buy feed, seed, and maybe a new pair of brogans.

These people made their living working in the fields under the hot sun growing food, a very worthwhile endeavor, and their necks often became sunburned.

Townfolk, who tend to be snooty, thought these people ignorant, uncouth and undesirable because they tended to drive pickup trucks, listen to the Grand Ol' Opry on the radio Friday nights, and to be humble.

They were easy to pick on, in other words. My grandfather was one of those people. He made his living from behind a mule, and his neck got red. He also liked Ernest Tubb, and I never heard him make a loud, bodacious statement of any kind.

He also was the most gentle, caring person I've ever known, and I'm glad he didn't live long enough to see the term applied to him become such a derisive label.

In the second place let us discuss the term "stepchild."

In the context it was used - redneck stepchild - it seemed to indicate someone of that description was a most undesirable individual.

I spring from those who worked the soil and became red of neck, and I had a stepfather, so I was a stepchild, and that makes me twice offended.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to ride around in my red blazer - a sort of pickup truck - and pout.}

Weakness in prayer-sometimes the perfect place to be

"In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. And He who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's will." Romans 8:26,27

The above Scripture has been going through my mind the past few days. It is such a comfort to know that during the times that I am unable to pray, where no words will come, when all I can do is cry, "LORD!", He is in fact petitioning the Father in my stead. His prayers are perfect and He prays "in accordance with God's will." How many times have I said "Your will be done" and still struggled to maintain my will! How patient and faithful He is to bear with my folly and continue to groan on my behalf in spite of my own impatience and unfaithfulness!

My Father and my God, I thank You for the way You have made a way for the longings of my heart will be filled! And I thank You for the intercession not just for my imperfect prayers, but for the way Jesus interceded in the course of my merry and miserable journey to Hell. You bring Life to dead places. You know the dead heart of Man, and in Your people You bring these dead hearts to Life! You have taken this heart that was once a cold piece of stone and transformed it into a temple in which the Spirit now resides. Click on the link below for some rather interesting history that you did not learn in your US History class in high school. Thanks Clint for writing such a great article.

http://www.geocities.com/clintlacy1/missourioverthrowone.html

Also, dont forget there is a holiday of great importance this month. Make sure you mark your calenders for January 19 to celebrate the birthday of one of our finest heros and a very godly man, a man who bravely went to the front of the battle for liberty......General Robert E. Lee.

There's a new website I'd recommend to all...take a look at it! But be forewarned....if you are a Yankee, liberal, or the PC gestapo (or a combination of all three....yikes), you may not like what you read. However, all those folks out there who understand the War for Southern Independence and it's acurate history, this will be a wonderful addition to your arsenal of truth.

http://www.confederatepride.bravehost.com/

I wish all y'all a very happy and safe New Year.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://dixiegirl4him.blogspot.com/2007/01/happy-new-year-may-this-be-year-of.html' title='Happy New Year! I have for many years had a deep respect and admiration for the Amish people, a people of peace and simplicity, who never get caught up in the world's drama, who's way of life has perservered while the culture at large grows more "progressive", i.e. more pagan.

I have at times thought of what it would be like to forsake my current station and live as the Amish and I must admit, I find a great number of things about that lifestyle that could be much more rewarding.

Daily I pray for this community, these brothers and sisters in Christ, and have wept several times for their loss. I have sensed a leading in my soul to write a letter of sympathy and encouragement and through the Lancaster Co. Sheriff's office have obtained an address to send cards and letters. I thought I'd pass it along in case anyone reading this feels the same.

Amish Families
c/o Bart Fire Company
Box 72
Bart, PA 17503

Tribute to 2 "late, greats"-Lewis Grizzard and Fred Arnold

Sometimes people come along and leave their mark on the world and when they die, the world has lost something. I remember when I was in high school, my grandpa became ill and would eventually pass away from this illness.

As a kid "Papa" and I would watch "Hee Haw" together and thanks to him, I got my love of country and bluegrass music. Being with him, I got to learn the music of Eddie Arnold, Johnny Cash, Hank Williams and the likes. He would take me on walks to my great-Grandma's house and we would walk through the rows of her garden and he would always point out what this was or that was.

I remember after he got sick, he couldn't really get out much anymore, so my mom would check out books from the library for him. I think she checked out every Lewis Grizzard book the library had at the time. And again, thanks to him, Lewis Grizzard became a favourite writer, commentator, comedian, and defender of the South.

Recently I came across a book in my library that I haven't read in about a year. Of course, I'm talkin' about a book by Lewis Grizzard. "Southern by the Grace of God."
I thought I'd leave a few of the more memorable excerpts here.

BORN RIGHT

"All of us native Southerners knew it was coming. And now, it is here. The Sunday paper carried a large article about Northern migration to the capital city of the South.

In the metro Atlanta area, the article said, native Georgians still have the edge, but it's not an overpowering one and the margin is dwindling. Said the article, "The migration patterns that brought Northeasterners to Atlanta's elite northern suburbs also sent people from the other regions to spots around the metro area. These settling patterns....have brought a new sense of place to dozens of Atlanta neighborhoods, influencing everything from the local politics to the inventory at the corner grocery store."

The article also quoted Yankee population expert, William Frey of the University of Michigan, as saying, "The nice Southern flavor of Atlanta may be diluted a bit with all the Northerners moving in."

The nice Southern flavor of Atlanta may be diluted a bit....

I certainly understand why somebody from the land of freeze and squeeze would want to seek asylum here. A friend, also a native Southerner, who shares my fear about losing our Southern flavor, put it way: "Nobody is going into an Atlanta bar tonight celebrating because they've just been transferred to New Jersey."

So what should I expect as my beloved Southland becomes more populated with migrating honkers? (Honker" Northerner with a grating accent who always talks at the top of his or her voice.) Will Southerners start dropping the last part of everybody's first name like the honkers do? Will I forever be Lew? Will Mary become Mare? Will Nancy become Nance? Will Bubba become Bub?

Will the automobile horn drown out the lilt of "Georgia on My Mind"? Will they dig a tunnel through Stone Mountain so native New Yorkers can remember the dark, choking atmosphere of the Lincoln and the Holland Tunnels? Will Harold's barbeque, 45 years in business, lose it's clientele to delicatessens where you have to scream at the top of your voice to get somebody to take your order for pastrami on pumpernickle?

Will the downtown Atlanta statue of the Phoenix, symbolic of the city's rising form the ashes, be replaced by a statue of Sherman holding a can of lighter fluid? Will grits become extinct? Will corn bread give way to the bagel? Will everybody, including native Southerners, start calling Atlanta's pro football team the "Fall-cuns" like the Yankee sportscasters, instead of the way it's supposed to be pronounced, "Fowl-cuns?"

Will "freeway" replace "expressway"? Will "soda" or "pop" replace "Co-coler"? Will Southern men start wearing black socks and sandals with Bermuda shorts? Will "Y'all come back" become "Git outta here"?

I was having lunch at an Atlanta golf club recently. A man sitting at another table heard me speaking and asked, "Where are you all from?" He was mocking me. He was mocking my Southern accent. He was sitting in Atlanta, Georgia, making fund of the way I speak.

He was from Toledo. He had been transferred to Atlanta. If I hadn't been 46 years old, skinny, and a basic coward with a bad heart, I'd have punched him. I did, however, give him a severe verbal dressing down.

I was in my doctor's office in Atlanta. One of the women who works there, a transplanted Northerner, asked how I pronounced the word "siren." I said I pronounced it "si-reen." I was half kidding, but that is the way I heard the word pronounced when I was a child.

The woman laughed and said, "You Southerners really crack me up. You have a language all your own."

Yeah, we do. If you don't like it, go back home and stick your head in a snow bank. We really don't care how you said it or how you did it back in Buffalo.

I read a piece on the op-ed page of the "Constitution" written by somebody who in the jargon of my past, "ain't from around here." He wrote white Southerners are always looking back and that we should look forward. He said that about me. He was reacting to a bumper sticker that shows the old Confederate soldier saying, "FERGIT, HELL!"

I don't go around sulking about the fact that the South lost the Civil War. But I am aware that once upon a long time ago, a group of Americans saw fit to rebel against what they thought was an overbearing federal government. Ther is no record anywhere that indicates anybody in my family living in 1861 owned slaves. As a matter of fact, I come from a long line of sharecroppers, horse thieves, and used car dealers. But a few of them fought anyway - not to keep their slaves, because they didn't have any. I guess they simply thought it was the right thing to do at the time.

Whatever their reasons, there was a citizenry that once say fit to fight and die and I come from all that, and I look at those people as brave and gallant, and a frightful force until their hearts and their lands were burnt away.

I will never turn my back on that heritage. I am proud to be a Southerner. If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times: I'm an American by birth, but I'm a Southerner by the grace of God."

In case you Yankees haven't figured it out yet...

Here is another installment of "You might be a Yankee if...". So, I thought I'd post it here for "educational purposes." Have a Dixie Day!

YOU MIGHT BE A YANKEE IF:

1. Your wife opens the door for you.

2. You let doors slam in anyone’s face (male or female).

3. You think dinner and supper are the same meal.

4. Your philosophy is "there oughta be a law."

5. You escape high taxes in the North and vote to raise them in the South.

6. Your socks match your "outfit."

7. You're a winter resident of "Floorida."

8. What's on TV tonight is important.

9. Who won the academy awards is news.

10. You believe your newspaper contains news.

11. Y'all is one person.

12. You wave at the lady with the flat tire.

13. You consider yourself a "progressive" instead of a nosy, busybody do-gooder.

14. You talk through your nose.

15. You fall for a Southern used car salesman turned president.

16. You're patriotic no matter what the government does.

17. You're offended by Southern symbols in the South.

18. You talk with your mouth full.

19. Your parents never taught you to say “thank you.”

20. You think addressing your elders as “Sir” and “Ma’am” will hurt your self esteem.

21. You consider your car a status symbol.

22. You take the Wall Street Journal so your neighbors will see it in your driveway.

23. You call everyone “guys.”

24. When you want others to think you’ve done something extraordinary, you holler, “Yesssss!”

YOU'RE A D---YANKEE IF:

1. You think you live in a free country.

2. You truly believe that Abe Lincoln freed anyone, anywhere.

3. You think it was “for the best” that the North won the War for Southern Independence.

4. You consider the citizens of the Confederacy to have been traitors to the US.

5. You see nothing at all wrong with the Union Army attacking the South and the Union Navy blockading Southern ports.

6. You think you have a right to tell Southerners how to live, and if they don’t agree, to force them.

7. You think it’s funny to depict Southerners as ignorant, slack-jawed, buck-toothed, inbred, violent, backwoods, beer-swilling, potbellied rednecks who just need to lighten-up and learn how to laugh at themselves.

8. You cannot fathom why Southerners would not want to keep company with you.

9. There’s some part of the statement, “Leave us the h--- alone!” that you just can’t grasp.

10. Lee and my Heavenly Father

But although our mind cannot conceive of God, without rendering some worship to him, it will not, however, be sufficient simply to hold that he is the only being whom all ought to worship and adore, unless we are also persuaded that he is the fountain of all goodness, and that we must seek everything in him, and in none but him. My meaning is: we must be persuaded not only that as he once formed the world, so he sustains it by his boundless power, governs it by his wisdom, preserves it by his goodness, in particular, rules the human race with justice and judgement, bears with them in mercy, shields them by his protection; but also that not a particle of light, or wisdom, or justice, or power, or rectitude, or genuine truth, will anywhere be found, which does not flow from him, and of which he is not the cause; in this way we must learn to expect and ask all things from him, and thankfully ascribe to him whatever we receive. For this sense of the divine perfections is the proper master to teach us piety, out of which religion springs. By piety I mean that union of reverence and love to God which the knowledge of his benefits inspires. For, until men feel that they owe everything to God, that they are cherished by his paternal care, and that he is the author of all their blessings, so that nought is to be looked for away from him, they will never submit to him in voluntary obedience; nay, unless they place their entire happiness in him, they will never yield up their whole selves to him in truth and sincerity.

From "Institutes of the Christian Religion" by John Calvin

Are you a Southerner or a Yankee?
Take this here little test-it will do either one of two things: it will confirm what you already knew to begin with, or it will suprise you at the way our beautiful Southern dialect is being polluted by the harsh Yankee tongue.

This was posted on one of my favourite forums
The Dixie War Room

I Am The South

by Louise Nettles Allen

I was born on April 12, 1861, in the Harbor of Charleston, South Carolina and the Constitution of the Confederate States of America is my Birth Certificate.

The blood lines of the South run through my veins, for I offer freedom that each State should regulate her own affairs, according to its best interest. I am many things and many people.

I Am The South.

I am millions of living souls, and ghosts of thousands who died for me. I am the Farmer-made soldier who did not turn his back during Pickett's Charge. I am the Rebel Yell that was heard across many of my rolling fields, protecting our homeland.

I am Robert E. Lee and Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson: I stood at Fort Sumter and fired the shot heard through our young nation. I am Longstreet, Hood and Patrick R. Cleburne. I am General's Johnson, Beaugard and President Jefferson Davis.

I remember how we fought in Gettysburg, Cold Harbor, Vicksburg, and Atlanta. When duty called I answered and stayed until it was over. I left my heroic dead in Chickamauga, in the fields of Shiloh, on the bloody hills of Mannassas and the mountains of Kennesaw.

I Am The South.

I am the Mississippi River, and the cotton fields of Alabama and the piney woods of the Carolinas. I am the coal fields of Virginia and Kentucky, the Florida coast and the Louisiana bayou. I am Richmond, the Capitol of the Confederacy. I am the forest, field, mountain, and rivers. I am the quiet villages and the cities that never sleep.

I am the Heritage that's been forgotten, the dying memory of a way of life that is being still. You see me in the twilight and hear me in Dixie, as the past continues to fade away each year.

Yes, I Am The South, and these are the things I represent.

I was conceived by force, and God willing, I'll spend the rest of my days remembering my birth. May I always possess the integrity and the courage, and the strength to keep my Heritage alive, to remain a Loyal Southerner and stand tall and proud to the rest of the world.

Do not forget who we are, what we are and where we came from.... In junior high I started having these stirrings within to be in touch with my heritage. I have always known that I was a "Rebel girl" and began in childhood listening to country, pinning the Confederate Battle flag on my bedroom wall, and preferring to hang out with friends who thought the same about these kind of things as me. In the words of Barbara Mandrell, "I was country when country wasn't cool." Nowadays, according to the PC crowd, being what I am isn't so cool. Oh, well.

As a Christian, I am also stirred within about where I am going. I belong to God, I am His child, adopted by Him, and will some day become a citizen of Heaven. Oh, this isn't too cool with the PC'rs either.

But what an awesome thing to look at where I came from and learning about some of the people in my lineage and seeing the hand of God bring me to where I am now. Before my biological mother died, she told me of the lady I am named after, Dessie Mae (I am Dessie Ann). Dessie Mae was her grandma. My mother told me more than once about spending the night at her grandma's and at bedtime laying there in her grandma's bed, watching her kneel by the bed and listening to her pray. She prayed for her husband and children. She prayed for her grandchildren. She prayed for her great grandchildren and her posterity. She prayed for me, and I wasn't even born yet. She prayed for my children and I dont have them yet. And I am named after this godly lady.

Also recently I have discovered my dad's line has been traced on both sides. I knew about his dad's lineage, but didn't know until a couple of weeks ago about his mothers. It seems it has been traced thus far back to the late 1600's early 1700's in Switzerland. The next generation came to America. They stayed for one generation in Lancaster Co. PA and belonged to a church group known as Ephrata Cloister. From what I've researched on that, it seems this was a very devout, God fearing group of people. The line moves on to Dekalb Co. TN where the line remained (and some still remain there to this day.) My great, great, great grandpa was named John Calvin Atnip. There is a John Calvin in my line...how cool is that! He was named after one of my favorite theologians.

What gets even cooler, John Calvin and 3 of his brothers served in the Confederate Army. One of the brothers died in a Union POW camp in Indiana. John however, lived until well after the Great War was over. I now have proof to become a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, and that is really cool too!

A few years before my mother died, she became a believer in Jesus Christ. She began praying for me and a couple of years later, I too accepted Jesus Christ as my Saviour and Lord.

This is a legacy I want to pass to my children. The godliness of my forefathers, the Cause for which some of them fought, a love for Dixie, an inheritance of the Confederacy, and a hunger for an even greater inheritance-an eternal inheritance.

This is the-
most ridiculous thing I have ever heard!

I was appalled when I saw a clip on the news today. I'm sure this was meant as a joke, but hey, it's the true things that are the funniest...although this illegal alien problem is no laughing matter!

"Dear President Bush:

I'm about to plan a little trip with my family and extended family, and I would like to ask you to assist me. I'm going to walk across the border from the U.S. into Mexico, and I need to make a few arrangements. I know you can help with this.

I plan to skip all the legal stuff like visas, passports, immigration quotas and laws. I'm sure they handle those things the same way you do here.

So, would you mind telling your buddy, President Vicente Fox, that I'm on my way over? Please let him know that I will be expecting the following:

1. Free medical care for my entire family.

2. English-speaking government bureaucrats for all services I might need, whether I use them or not.

3. All government forms need to be printed in English.

4. I want my kids to be taught by English-speaking teachers.

5. Schools need to include classes on American culture and history.

6. I want my kids to see the American flag flying on the top of the flag pole at their school with the Mexican flag flying lower down.

7. Please plan to feed my kids at school for both breakfast and lunch.

8. I will need a local Mexican driver's license so I can get easy access to government services.

9. I do not plan to have any car insurance, and I won't make any effort to learn local traffic laws.

10. In case one of the Mexican police officers does not get the memo from Pres. Fox to leave me alone, please be sure that all police officers speak English.

11. I plan to fly the U.S. flag from my house top, put flag decals on my car, and have a gigantic celebration on July 4th. I do not want any complaints or negative comments from the locals.

12. I would also like to have a nice job without paying any taxes, and don’t enforce any labor laws or tax laws.

13. Please tell all the people in the country to be extremely nice and never say a critical word about me, or about the strain I might place on the economy.

I know this is an easy request because you already do all these things for all the people who come to the U.S. from Mexico. I am sure that Pres. Fox won't mind returning the favor if you ask him nicely.

However, if he gives you any trouble, just invite him to go quail hunting with your V.P.

Thank you so much for your kind help.

Sincerely,"

A sad day is looming

In a way I look forward to tomorrow, and in a way I dread it. Our usual Thursday afternoon "Lunch and Pray" group will meet to break bread, fellowship, and pray together. The focus of our prayers for the last 5 1/2 months have been for our church, as we are in the process of searching for a new pastor. This Sunday will be the final message we hear from our pastor, Don Watkins. So, as he joins us in prayer tomorrow, it will be bittersweet.

Joyfully in the Lord, he is going (and we are sending) him to Paducah, Kentucky to plant a church. This area is in real need of Reformed teaching. It is an exciting thing to see, when the Lord takes His people to places they never thought they would go. In that same vein, our congregation is looking forward to see just who the Lord brings our way, not only to fill the pulpit temporarily, but to take over as "Resident Shepherd."

Tomorrow I will make something special for dessert and make sure I have plenty of tissues in my bag. And though we are prepared to let Don and his family go, Sunday will probably be one of the most difficult days of our lives.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On a brighter note, I found an article link through LOS...rather uplifting, I think.

http://www.accessnorthga.com/news/ap_newfullstory.asp?ID=75646

Good article-you may have to copy/paste into your browser.

http://leagueofthesouth.net/blog/more.php?id=1691_0_1_0_M

Vacation Details

Been a while...I realize this. OK, I am going to try to keep this more updated.

I just got back from a "vacation." I don't get many of those, and this one was especially enjoyable and relaxing.

I went to the annual Highlands Study Center conference in Abingdon, Va. and afterwards stopped by my sister's in Raleigh, NC for a couple of days.

I have been wanting to visit the Study center for a few years but it never worked out that I could get away. Well, I decided this year I was going, even if I had to walk. Well, thankfully, I didn't have to walk; in fact I bought a new (well, "new-to-me" anyway) car, so I drove. Thirteen hours in the car up there was splendid, just the Lord and me, singing and praying to Him as I drove. But by mile 600, I was so ready to be there and out of the car!

Abingdon turned out to be one of the most charming places I have ever seen. I love history and there was no short of it there. I spent some time at the Martha Washington Inn and Barter Theatre. I got to stroll along Main Street for a while, just taking in the sights and breathing the cool mountain air.

The conference began Friday evening. Of course RC Sproul Jr. spoke, along with his guests-RC Sr., Doug Phillips and his father Howard. The overall theme was "Honor", but Doug's messages really moved me, sometimes to the point of tears. I came away so convicted about the attitude of my heart at times, especially in regard to honoring my parents. Although I may honor them on the surface, many times my heart does not.

As a kid, I remember rolling my eyes and giving a big dramatic sigh, as if they just had no clue. I may not roll my eyes or heave a huge sigh outwardly, but I most certainly do inwardly. Heavenly Father, please forgive me and give me a spirit of honoring not only my parents, but all other authority, especially Yours.

OK, back to Friday. I had been praying for a few weeks prior to meet people who I could connect with and possibly get to know while I was there, since I would be going solo. While I was sitting there in my seat in between breaks, a lady behind me tapped me on the shoulder and asked if I was by myself. She introduced herself as Valerie and invited me to join her and some other folks for some game playing later on that night. Well, the Lord sure did answer those prayers!

I met a few other ladies, their husbands and children and we played games until about 1am. We talked about a wide variety of things, laughed and had fun. I dragged myself back to my hotel just to get back up in a few short hours.

Saturday's messages were just as awesome as Friday's; however, the one that I loved the most was RC Jr's "Delivering the Kingdom to the Father." The Wedding Feast of the Lamb. The New Jerusalem. Heaven. Events and times that many times I fail to look towards. Things and places as we know them now will oneday be destroyed. All of our material possessions, our silver and gold will perish, things that we hold on to dearly will rot. So, why then do I have a hard time relinquishing? On that day-the beautiful, glorious, awe strickening, unfathomable day of the Lord, all things will be forgotten except seeing my Lord and my God as He truely is, seeing Him through a new, unblemished set of eyes, beholding the likeness of His face and placing my fingers over His scars. In a place where "Jesus feeds me" (thank you RC Jr for that phrase that I can never forget.)

What is the Church?

I have heard several sermons regarding the "church" lately, from both good, and well, other preachers. My pastor has been doing a series on the church and what it's purpose is, in every detail.

The church is not the building where Christians meet, nor is it any one particular congregation or denomination. The bottom line is: the church is the Body of Christ presently, globaly, currently being sanctified and cleansed, for her future role of Bride of Christ. (Eph. 5:27) Therefore we must look at what Jesus wants His church to look like, versus how the world wants the church to look.

Let me start off by telling of my experience tonight. I sometimes visit a Saturday night service at a local Church of God. Even though I am reformed and would NEVER give up my reformed theology (or Sunday morning services at my church), I have friends that I love dearly and they attend this COG. Well, they had a guest "pastor" tonight, and I use that term loosely, because I am not sure if he is a pastor or not. I can tell you though, that he read maybe one verse out of the Scriptures. On top of that, the verse had nothing to do with the purpose of the church. He goes on to tell us the church as to stop focusing so much on the inward and focus outward, to stop being in a "football huddle" and be more open to the "unchurched" that come through our doors, to make the church a more accepting, friendly atmosphere where people want to belong.

Can I tell you, I wanted so much to blurt out numerous things during that "sermon." OK, I cannot completely disagree with what he said. But I declare, he missed the boat BIG TIME! Not once during the whole message did he mention that the purpose of the church was to bring praise, honor, glory and worship to our Lord! That the purpose of the Body is to edify and encourage Believers! That the reading of the Word and the sermon are FOR THE BELIEVER! No, not one time was anything like this mentioned.

You know, we should be welcoming and loving when folks come into our midst. Jesus set that example for us in many of His encounters. But we should never forget that the Bible is for the Believer. To the mind of the unbeliever, the Bible is foolishness and irrational. In His sovereignty, God the Holy Spirit of course can and does use His Word to bring an unbeliever to belief. But we should never make ourselves look like the world in order to make the world comfortable in our midst. No, in fact, the unbeliever should feel very uncomfortable in the presence of the Triune God, and in the presense of His Word. (I know, we Believers should too feel some level of discomfort, for in our process of sanctification, we are in much need of daily repentance-but that is another topic for perhaps another time. Thankfully, as Believers, the great divide between us and our Father has already been bridged. So even our discomfort is temporary.)

Also, I know we are commanded by Jesus in the Great Commission to go out and make disciples of the nations and that is a command that every church should take very seriously. So yes, the church should have an outward approach. But again, no mention of what He is doing through His church. The message I heard tonight was all about "us", the human happenings of the body of Christ. Not even a footnote on His glory, His praise, or His worship.

When we lose our "upward" focus, our "inward" and "outward" focus become out of focus and and then all we are at best is a big motivational speaker convention.

God, please continue to cleanse and prepare Your bride, that you may present her faultless and without blemish at the wedding feast of the Lamb. Amen.

Book Review

I have been reading a series of books written by a husband-wife team, Bodie and Brock Thoene. The series: "The A.D. Chronicles."

As I began the first book, "First Light", I wasn't looking for much other than a temporary trip into fiction-land and a reprieve from the daily grind. But as I got further into the book, I figured the daily grind could wait! LOL! I couldn't put it down!

The time: approx. 30 AD, the setting: Jerusalem and surrounding cities

The political climate is precarious. The Temple priests are divided over many issues. The local folk are crying out for Messiah to come and defeat the Romans. Danger lurks behind every shadow. Whispers of Herod Antipas' cruelty on the lips of only the bravest who dare say anything against him.

And if that were not enough, now we have a band of people following after One whose teachings are more like riddles. While the band of people grows, so are the questions that come from His inner circle. The rumors around the city have attracted the attention of the sick, the hungry, the helpless...and the ones in power.

I have, as well as many other Christians, have read the gospel accounts of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John many times. I admit, I don't have a great, stretching imagination. So, when I picked up this series, I got a chance to read these gospel accounts with a whole lotta imagination woven into them.

I am very impressed with these books. They make the accounts we read about in the Bible stand out in a way I have never seen before. While I DO NOT hold them to the same esteem I hold the Bible, I do like the way the authors have taken Scripture and researched historic, factual evidences and interwoven them.

While there are true, factual characters, such as Jesus, His disciples, King Herod, and all other historical persons of the gospels in this book, there are also fictional ones as well. I won't give away anything that would compromise the story line in case someone wants to read them. But I will say that these books have caused me to both laugh and cry. And because of them I have fallen in love with Jesus all over again! I highly recommend them and pray that they make you stop and think of Jesus in a way you maybe never have before.
